Have just replaced the throttle cables on my 2003 GS.
All seemed to go well, but I don't seem to be able to get any spare slack in the left hand cable.
All the adjusters are wound right off, and cables are seated properly. Right hand cable has about the normal amount of slack.

Am I missing something:confused:

The wisdom of the collective would be appreciated:thumb2

Steptoe mentioned that there was an issue with genuine BMW replacement cables some time ago. Certainly mine were borderline when he adjusted them 2 years ago. Can you still use the locknut?

Had the same problem when i replaced the cables on my 1100 last year from motobins the left hand cable seemed short it turned out whoever makes the cables has made the outer on the left hand 4-5mm too long.
The only way to get the butterfly's to sync was to put the lock nut under the plate where the adjuster screws in or out instead of on top it gives you a bit more adjustment it now works fine.

I'm hoping all those short cables are out of the system by now.

But knowing human nature i expect they were sold off cheaply and will end up on ebay as "bargains".
And no doubt someone will tell us how we're all mugs for paying so much when he bought them for half price off the bay. :D

Cables came from motorworks, so a reputable dealer.

Tried the seating method of holding butterfly at idle and rolling on throttle, no change.

Will try moving locknut to underneath next.

Can you compare the old and new cables? If the new one is shorter return for replacement...

i find genuine bmw airhead cables are often made up wrong.
