Iv,e noticed that when leaning over for a bend I can hear a whineing type of noise. This starts when just off the vertical and increases with lean angle.
My Bike is a 2007 GS with 1500 miles an dis on Metzeler Tourances.
Any ideas ?

probably the big, dual purpose tyre blocks humming on the tarmac.

does the noise change pitch on different surfaces?

I had a set of Anakees fitted , when the pressures were a bit low, were very noisy in the same way. The Tourances doent seem to be a problem.

If its more of a mechanical noise could it be the fuel pump? Does it only do it whent the fuel is low?

Could hear the same noise with my previous bike with Tourances; this is because of the Tourances design but it is important that you check your tyre pressure: it should be 36 PSI at the front and 42 PSI at the back (these are pressure recommended by Metzeler). Use these pressures with Tourances even if the bike manual recommends lower pressure.

those tyre pressures correct?

vines advised 32 front / 36 back with Tourances on spoked wheels. all previous BMs and honda were running at 36/42.....

i started similar thread this morning and this, plus worn tyres, looks like the probable cause.

Also (if you still have it fitted) check that the rear spray guard that is attached to the final drive hub is tightly mounted. A family member's one worked loose and in certain corners rubbed on the tyre causing a noise.

Took us a while to work it out I ended up riding it back and fore through a section of road we knew made the noise with the owner standing beside the road. :nenau

I noticed the same thing when I got my gs new, it turned out to be the wind over the screen at a different angle when leaning, play with the settings on the srceen, but once you confirmed it is the airflow, then forget about it as there is no real impact accept in my case it made the bike sound like a ducati.... so in corner I could pretent I was stoner....;o)

I have noticed the same thing, I have spoked wheels on my GSA. The same thing used to happen on my old HD Dyna which had spokes, I just put it down to the noise being reflected off the road when leaning.....................I must get out more!

Many thanks for the suggestions folks. After a good long run out yesterday I think we can put it down to the Tyres. I run them at 36 / 42. I had a similar problem and noise with 2 K1200LT,s we ran for 30,000 miles but that was due to the "cupping" of the front tread block edges after about 2000 miles and continued to get worse until it was truely horrendous at about 8000 miles. One thing I did notice though was that when spinning the rear wheel (I removed the Hugger and Rear Caliper to rule out any Tyre rubbing in that area) there is a considerable "roughness and noise" when spinning the Wheel "backwards". Forward spinning is smooth and quiet.!!
Do they all do this !!.
Thanks, Mike Tee.
