Probably the wrong place to put this but as mines a 1200.........

Ive just taken out the extended ----to 3yrs warranty. Having read a few moans n groans re servicing on here I pose the Q? as mine will be due a 24k soon.

I have a chap who has previously done servicing on my non BMW bikes, he is affiliated and registered as a Honda servicing shop and VAT registered and a trusted mechanic who cares about his job and survives on recommendation and customer service. :comfort

Like other makes / modelsof bikes, would my warranty still be valid if he does the servicing to the letter of the schedule and stamps up the book.

I would also save dosh by providing him with my own oil/filter as hien gerike are doing a deal on 20w50 atmo.

Using him would definatley make each service sub £250 even for a biggy.

Thoughts please....... :rob

What does it say about this in the terms and conditions of your extended warranty?

Just my opinion but I would stick to BMW servicing whist it is in warranty as it removes the possibility of a dealer blaming non BMW parts or workmanship, also the dealer will know you so might be inclined to try a little harder to make a claim.

Out of warranty then do what you feel comfortable with.

I dont know about warrentee but when it comes tro good will claims a fully stamped up main dealer service record is a head start. I dont follow my own advice mind and use a indapendent mechanic with no problems so far. Platinum Motorcycles. I hope I never have to test my luck. JJH

T&C's for the BMW Extended Warranty states that "All service and warranty work must be carried out by an Authorised BMW Dealer or BMW Service Authorised Workshop using only Genuine BMW Parts. Your BMW Service Booklet should be stamped, dated and detailed with the correct mileage at the time of service by the servicing dealer"

Is that specific enough for you? :augie
