Anyone with any idea what price differentials are?

1. When you buy them from a dealer
2. When you decide to sell on

Want to know if depreciation is Steeper for non UK bike?

Thanks in advance.

WHAT SORT OF DIFFERENTIALS ?

BMW ?

chevrolet

jaguar ?

LSD ? twin half-shafts with cv joints and inboard discs.

i reckon about £300 for a decent one.

What you doin' with it ? You wanna make a trike ?

hmmm...

Looking to swap my R for a GS.

My dealer has non uk and uk ones available. Just wanted to know if it was a financially worthwhile to go for non Uk ones.

I have lost £2.5k on my 18 month old bike  (if I trade in now), so really want to minimise that in my next purchase. Don't want to find out a few years down the line that non uk ones loses lots more money than a uk bike.

that'll be SPC then?!

I bought a 1 year old, secondhand GS from a bloke who'd originally got it from SPC, parallel. They do all the convertions - speedo - lights etc. I reckon I paid maybe 100/200 quid less than the going S/H rate at the time... (PS although i don't think that was anything to do with it being an import ;) )

I don't *think* it makes any difference to the warranty - I rang the people (who's name i temporarily forget) who deal with BM warranty over here when i got mine - they knew the machine from the VIN number, knew it was a 'german' as oppsoed to UK machine and confirmed that the warranty was unaffected. And as far as I can accertain - there is very little difference in the residuals...

Is this according to what the dealer has offered in part x ?

Yep, that's right. They mentioned that if I sold privately I may get five hundred quid more.

Also my bike is not in pristine condition. I dropped it a few time at low speed.

Geordie, I was told that our bikes are "Commonwealth Spec" whatever that may mean:confused:

PS: Have you run yours in yet? About time we had a GSers day in Troodos:D

What R is it ?

If you buy an import make sure you get the original KM clock +
the service history,
that way when you sell you'll have no probs ;)

Ps mines an import
i've had it 2 1/2 years and have been offered what i payed for it :)

it's an 1150R.

Thanks for the opinions. Now I just need to find the money ...

i suggest you either haggle more or find another dealer.

also get quotes to fix the damage on your bike and look around to see what other dealers are selling similar Rs for, this will tell you how much he is going to make on your bike.

should be able to get a good deal on an 1150GS now- something to do with a "better" one coming out
