Off to Normandy soon for a little 3 day break. Going to do the beaches and Memorials thing & would like some advice on what maps to get as we are also considering doing a few gentle trails, so if any one could give a few pointers for around that area it would be great, but bear in mind this will be on loaded dual sport bikes 640 ADV & Aprilia Pegaso with road biased knobblies so nothing to hardcore! Its been a long time since I even looked at a French map so again any clues to what I should be looking for as legal trails would be very nice.

Cheers

Michelin 1;200000 map shows all roads, including unmade tracks.

There are also some smaller scale very local maps, IG series and Michelin, but the French do not (as far as I know) have the equivalent of our fine OS maps.

Thats not really surprising ...

... but the French do not (as far as I know) have the equivalent of our fine OS maps.

... is it, seeing as how our OS maps were developed to lay co-ordinated artillery fire on the French following the anticipated Napoleonic invasion; there's a clue in the title 'Ordnance Survey' :augie

Not far wrong...they pre-date Napoleon though....
