I have got a few from my library and have been pleasently surprised.
I leave on tuesday for trip to the normandy beaches, and will be armed with some of these books and of course Mr Holts guide too.

As well as the general history side the battle ground series has a section of battle field tours in the back to take you and guide you arround the areas and with relatively recent maps. Mostly covering the beach, bluecoat, epsom, falaise, caen areas etc.

I have them all; in fact, it was these books that manufactured my trips. The furthest is Anzio & Monte casino. The books are good and if you have the time very detailed. I too am at Normandy for the 65th anniversary tour. Make sure you read and go to Hill 112.:thumb2

Normandy
By Cyril Crain.

Come and stand in memory
Of men who fought and died
They gave their lives in Normandy
Remember them with pride.

Soldiers, airmen, sailors
Airborne and marines
Who in civvy life were tailors
And men who worked machines.

British and Canadians
And men from USA
Forces from the commonwealth
They were all there that day.

To Juno, sword and Utah
Beaches of renown
Also Gold and Omaha
That’s where the ramps went down.

The battle raged in Normandy
Many lives were lost
The war must end in victory
And this must be the cost.

When my life is over
And I reach the other side
I’ll meet my friends from Normandy
And shake their hands with pride.
