I have tried looking for links and topics [ some of them rather old,not having a pop! ] but i need some help regarding tyres , my problem? is that i have a gs1100 1995 but its fitted with wheels [alloys] from i believe a 1100 rs or rt rear wheel is 4.5x18E shod with a 160x60 zr18 front wheel is 3.5x17E shod with a 120x70 zr17 i need some help on this as i would have gone for tourance but dont think they do the size for front, i wont be going off road and prefer grip over mileage any input would be very helpfull , sorry its another tyre question but i dont want to make the wrong choice , cheers in advance . ps its wearing roadtec? by metz at the minute :tears

Pirelli Angels if they do the 18" rear yet, or Michelin Pilot Road2 (very much doubt the latest 3's will be available in the 18", not even sure any of the 3's are actually out yet).
Or for a budget option avon storm2's.

I've basically got the same wheels to go on mine, but waiting to wear the Tourances out first. Not far off.

Avon Storm 2 ultras are a decent option or Dunlop Roadsmarts are said to be good, i am using Avon VP2s but not available in 18" but you could fit on the front if you like sticky and a sports tour on the back.

cheers

Do you like the feel of the Metzelers? If so then why not replace like with like?

I am ok with the front tyre , back seems a bit vague but tyres pretty worn when i got bike 3 weeks ago , may go with the michelin pilot road 2 , thanks to you all for your help its much appreciated. keep happy keep safe!:beerjug:

I went to supplier and he said pilot road , good tyre for money , the rear had a metz m6 but rounded off , was big surprize ,a pleasant one on sunday when i went to scrub it in . felt much safer , just my 2pence . Geno

I wouldn't, the Michelins are pretty much the same price and a much better tyre. The Dunlops get great reviews, but everyone I've seen in use wears really weird, and I mean really weird, stepped tread, obvious steps off the hard centre compound to the softer edge compound, definately not right in my opinion.
I see the latest issue of bike really raves about the new PilotRoad 3, the sipes seem to make a huge diference, but as I said earlier I don;t think they're on general sale yet. The Dunlops came second and pr2's just behind them iirc.
