Having just update my Nav V to the latest maps etc via Garmin Express, I notice that my ever-reducing memory capacity on the device is now getting pretty critical. Apparently just 80Mb free out of 7 Gb. It has an SD card, with plenty of space. Last year I went through the Nav's internal folders on my PC looking for unnecessary crap to delete, but I need to dig deeper. I found an archive folder of very old GPX route files which I clobbered, along with unused 'voices', and all non-UK files in the Manual, Text, and Keyboard folders.

Are there any other big files I can safely delete, without affecting anything? In particular there's a "BaseCamp" folder - given that I don't use BaseCamp at all, can I assume that's safe to wipe?

Thanks

Here's the trick
Whichever folder you decide to delete - and see if the unit is negatively affected- MAKE A COPY on your pc/memory medium before deleting it from satnag.
Sorry to sound simplistic but it is IMHO the safest/only way to proceed no matter what you do/anybody else tells you to do.

Thats strange, in my case Express detected the SD card and loaded maps on there, with a caveat that SD card needed to be kept in unit.

or help us help you. Take a snapshot/screenshot/snip of your explorer/finder view and we can tell you what to delete..bit like this but of your Garmin\map folder
