NSA meeting Westonzoyland this weekend 10th & 11th May

Sorry this is a little late but I only heard about it yesterday evening! The National Sprint Association is holding a meeting at the old Westonzoyland airfield nr Bridgwater this weekend. These are great events and you can see all manner and ages of bikes competing in the 1/8th mile run. The smells of Castrol R and the sounds of an old HRD with open pipes are hard to beat. s:

The weather is forecasted to be fantastic for this weekend so you'll be guaranteed a lovely ride there and back! Admittance is usually free (it has been in the past anyway)! We'll be there Saturday.

Well we had a cracking afternoon over at the sprint and the weather was glorious.

It was a quarter mile one this time so some of the times and terminal speeds were pretty impressive.

A nitro'd Hayabusa managed 9.6 seconds with a terminal speed of 145 mph and there was a guy on a bog standard ZZR1400 which he rode there, who managed 9.9 seconds and 141 mph! Not bad for a bike straight off the showroom floor.

All sorts of bikes were there, singles, twins, fours, nitrous powered, turbo charged, super charged, methanol powered, etc. The smells of Castrol R hung heavy in the air and some of the exhausts were ear-splittingly loud. A real assault on the senses. Lovely!

We got talking the a chap with a lovely Guzzi Le Mans 1 which he'd just spent a fortune on rebuilding to a very high standard - and here he was drag racing it!!!! He was achieving 13 second times with speeds of around 100 mph. Pretty impressive for a 30+ year old bike in totally standard tune.

If you see the scooter pictured here - don't take it on as it was running times of around 14 seconds at 90 mph!

A great day out but I'm sorry to report that we met no other Tossers there.

The next meeting there is 30th May - 1st Jun. Admittance is FREE. Maybe see somebody next time?

Hello there, was told about there has been drag racing at westonzoyland and this is the only forum i could find anything about it. other than the odd video on youtube.

Does this still happen is there any drag racing event or such going to be happening there again ? im from yeovil and only have a 20year old 125 but would love a blast.
