Had a problem with NTL broadband this morning, eventually worked it out as a problem with the NTL DNS Servers
194.168.4.100
194.168.8.100

After speaking with their tech support I was told of the problem with them and "will have to wait until they are fixed" - they wouldn't recommend any alternate ones.

Got through to Google via its IP address
209.85.135.99
looking for alternates.

Demon ones
158.152.1.58
158.152.1.43
didn't work

Netcom ones did :thumb
Primary DNS 194.42.224.130
Secondary DNS 194.42.224.131
3rd DNS (Optional) 194.42.224.132
4th DNS (Optional) 194.42.224.133

YMMV

I had a similar problem all through Monday night.

They spent 40 minutes telling me they'd find it difficult to send out an engineer as they couldn't find anything wrong with the line.

I told them I'd find it difficult to pay my bill.

Turns out it was a problem with the wrong DHCP server at their end. The fact that it coincided with my router frying itself was neither here nor there.

Clive, thanks for posting this...I've been struggling for at least a week with certain URLs and just determined today that it was NTL's DNS server. However they don't have an email address and I can't be bothered to wait on a phone line for ages only to try and explain that they have a fault. They'll inevitable try to tell me the problem is with my config. :spitfire

Haven't managed to get an alternative DNS to work but will keep searching.
