Racing abandoned...........

New emergency road closure orders to include the following Sunday or preceding Friday???????????

Is abandoned du to the weather or something worse ?

Cant see Sunday racing happen, especially when there is 2 churches on the circuit (although one has a rear entrance). And McAdoo wont allow his bikes out on a Sunday.

The Amount of Money Lost to the general Area as a result of
no racing again is damaging the Sport and its Appeal.
There most definitely needs to be a re-think . Philip Mc Callen had some great thoughts on it including
Flexible road closures and maybe a longer span of racing ,
over a period of days . Everything needs to be on the table.

There was a race at the NW200 before Macadoo, so Macdoo can be done without ,
and i am Sure both Churches would be very flexible . This is the mentality we need to loose. Positivity only . Leave the Negativity at
the door.

I have to say again , i feel for Mervyn White .
That Mervyn Jess , was putting him under Serious pressure earlier
asking him whether there would be racing "" Today or Not""
as if it was a simple question... KITB , was in order .

I agree about McAdoo, but how many other won't race because of their beliefs?

And Sunday would be the churches busy day for trade.

I think the organisers will definitely learn from today, and every can go home, some will moan & complain but most importantly, EVERYONE is going home.

Jaysus Martin , Whats that all about .
This has to be the Oldest ANTI Road Racing line in the Book .
I think the pros and cons of that one have been discussed at length.
I can see a wee underlying trend developing there , Martin ,
why not just say your firmly in the "" NO "" Camp ..
Between Mc Adoo and the Churches , Next we,ll be hearing Thursday is a
big night for Asda in Korean .
Get either on or off the Fence ,, You will get splinters wrigglin .. ! ..
I,ll tell ye this much , The North of Ireland would be a Poorer place , if it werent there .
Every single County in the Provence of Ulster ,all 9 of them, benefits from the Races ,
it brings the communities closer , it is overall a good thing .

I'm, far from "anti road racing" and my arse aint getting splinters.

What I meant by everyone going home was, Mervyn had a tough decision to call today. His priority is safety and any right minded fan is the same, wanting everyone to get home.

I just cant see Sunday racing working up here, perhaps Friday road closing orders, but then that means the schools on the circuit closing, business' also. Do they put out notices saying "place will be closed Friday, if its dry and Saturdays forecast is to be wet".

As I said, lessons will have been learnt for 2014, but sure you can do nothing about the weather.

I Feel sorry for organisers, sponsors, fans and riders.
I agree.
We (the fans) will get over it, it's only the cost of a tank of fuel, a programme & a bit of grub. The other parties, plus the local area, suffer financially and that will probably have a knock-on effect. Which is a shame because, in reasonable weather, it's about the best day out you can have.

The only complaint I would have, although I understand Mervyn & co's reasoning, is the length of time between the red flag and the event being cancelled. There were a lot of spectators, and marshals, standing in the phishing rain for hours waiting for something to happen & they won't be as quick to travel or volunteer next year.

Given the severity of the forecast there shouldn't have been any racing at all today, it should have been postponed until tomorrow, church or no church.
The amount of money it costs to run the event, the bikes and teams, the money it generates if it is a successful day and the amount of money it costs people who attend both from across Ireland and further should be more important.
All this Sunday bollocks is pathetic, can't do this, can't do that, can't open before 1pm etc etc, it's time it stopped.
An event as big as the NW200 should have flexibility to ensure it's success or people just won't bother.

PLUS.....two ferries, a week in a hotel and a round trip of 750 miles...

It’s not your fault that I don’t live in N.I. but I hope that most people over there have a better appreciation of 'fans loses'.....:)

.

Apoligies , i read the thread , seen the Highlighted "everyone" and
instantly see a red flag .
I was wrong to have a go .Sorry.
I would frequent the Port quite a bit and its surprising , how many people
up that way , dont like the Races .

Maybe you will be on the promenade later i will buy you a coffee .

Not a coffee man myself ( but partial to an ice cream) but give me a shout next time you're up this way and maybe take in a few miles round the coast
