NW200 Race Day

so that's the famous Donkey!
I've always heard of him in dispatches but never had a face to put to the name.

Yip that be Michael:D

He said to me on Saturday his mum donated a cup for the 250 race winner on behalf of his father Sammy Patton who died in a motorcycle accident less than a year ago...Both of them did a lot for the Coleraine club over a long long time.

Another great w/e, thoroughly enjoyed by myself & Sam, the eldest lad.

Thanks to Tuned for organising the viewing spot (again) & Aidan & Mandy for the bed on Friday night & the company on Sat (yet again) :clap:clap

Some great racing & I was delighted to see Michael Dunlop winning. It must have been extremely difficult even being there, never mind taking part. I think he did his Dad proud :bow

After the races we went down to the paddock for a look around. Unfortunately most of the teams were packing up & the riders weren't around but we did manage to find Cameron Donald who was busy signing autographs. Also at the Relentless garage was Jonathon Rea who was happy to provide his autograph too :thumb2

Unfortunately, when we came out of the paddock I found my bike had been interfered with by some drunken yob who left this on the saddle :spitfire

We then completed our lap of the course & stopped at Maugherabuoy House where we were staying. There was nothing interesting on the menu in the hotel so we decided to head into Portrush. The taxi driver dropped us at an Italian restaurant where we had a very average meal. Trying to find a taxi to get us 'home' proved to be quite difficult as we strolled around the town. I'm sure it's a lovely place normally but what a sh1thole on a Saturday night :eek By ten o'clock everyone we met was staggering around & according to the taxi driver it's not just during race week !

I'd promised the lad we'd do the Coast Road on the way home so that's where we headed on Sunday morning. And a fine day it was too. Plenty of bikes around too, both on the road & in every cafe, carpark & lay-by along the route. Unfortunately Sam had a school prizegiving he had to attend so, after having an icecream in Glenarm, we had to give it serious socks to make it home (almost :augie) on time.

You passed us dandering back into Portstewart on your way out of the paddock, next time head for Portstewart rather than Portrush on the Saturday night, get a better class of drunk there:augie

Can highly recommend Shenanigans for a meal, we ate there on Friday night and had a great meal, I can't remember much after 10 (nowt new there then) but the craic out the front was good as was that in The Ice House further up the prom. :aidan

Now he tells me :blast

I did phone that other useless Tosser TrevMcDev8 to get his recommendations but he was obviously busy 'entertaining' :augie

But P'rush was handier for us anyways ;)

Great pics and what a weekend, just back last night and my liver hurts!! Stayed in Portstewart and had a great time, can't wait for next year.

Whereabouts in Portstewart did you stay?......Any good?.......or would you recommend somewhere else? I fancy a ride over there before next year's races, just to suss it out......Then get something booked ASAP.

Anybody out there stay on the camp site ?......Again, any good?

Many thanks for any replies.......:)

An image I'll never forget :(

jonnie,

Go into the Northern Ireland tourist site and have a look there. If you are going to tour around Northern Ireland i can recommend a camp site in the Mourne Mountains in County Down-Meelmore lodge, I think they have a web site, hope this helps
