Took a wee scoot down to the Mull of Kintyre couple of Fridays back. Well worth the run, decent quiet roads and some outstanding scenery. The lighthouse road gate was locked so it was a fairly easy bimble down to the memorial cairn, not so much on the way back up though 😰

If you’re thinking of heading that way then I’d recommend it, had a coffee stop in Campbeltown at the Fresh Connection cafe, Victoria sponge was excellent!!

Some pics of the Mull. Really serene area to visit.

An often overlooked area in Scotland, I've done it quite a few times, much preferred to the sometimes packed NC500.....this route and also Crieff Cloverleaf is more enjoyable 👍👍

I rode there a couple of years ago from my hotel base in Inverary. A good day's ride of about 200 miles. Good roads. Sat and watched the seals on the rocks for a while. Coffee in Campbeltown and down to the Mull, then back to Inverary for langoustines for dinner. A bloody good day. Not the most picturesque part of Scotland but I had never been there and, thanks to that awful song, felt it was worth a trip. I was asked how many miles I'd done before the earworm struck. Well, I nearly reached the hotel car park on the way there. I wouldn't go again, but I'm glad I have seen it.

I’d watched the Beebs anniversary documentary on the Chinook disaster which reminded me that I’d always wanted to go and pay my respects. Can’t imagine the difficulty the emergency services must of experienced due to accessibility and harshness of that area, absolute tragedy!!

Somewhere It's never occurred to me to go, Campbeltown, East or West Loch Tarbert yes. If you do go, There is a little ferry over to the Isle of Gigha, worth an afternoon visit.
