i was riding with strong gusty side wind the other day and had a sensation that the front wheel keeped stepping out on me ,im used to the whole bike being blown to one side but this felt odd/dodgy
no this could be nothing but thought i should ask to see if there is anything i need to look at as its my 1st gs and 1st bike with the front telelever
cheers nik
its an early 01/02 single spark 1150

It is just something that they do. It's a bit unsettling at first but you'll get used to it.

This reminds me; Years ago when I had my ER-5 I had the front wheel lift slightly following a very strong gust of wind. As a result the bike ended up facing the left side of the road pointing me toward some very large trees.

there fine mate (within 2 psi) there new (450 miles on them)
bt020/bt021 combo

Niko - Bridgestones technical department specify 38front and 42rear on the 1100/1150GS. regardless of whether solo or with pillion. these pressure are a little different to what the owners manual say. (I have the same tyres on my 1100 - with 020s on the rear)

his query

Hi, can you suggest tyre pressures for my 2000 BMW R1150GS motorcycle fitted with BT020 front and BT021 Rear tyres, for solo riding and when carrying a pillion, please. Thank you.

reply from Bridgestone was thus.

Thank you for your enquiry.

I can confirm that our recommended pressures for your motorcycle would be as follows,

Front – 36psi

Rear - 42psi

These pressures are recommend for both solo and pillion riding.

Kind regards,

prior to coming across that thread I - like you was following the handbooks pressure recommendations and the tyres never felt quite 'right' - increasing the pressure though to Bridgestones specs seems to have cured that completely.

Paralever bearings loose/worn?
Rear wheel worn flat?
(From the bad batch) Metzeler Tourance mounted in front?
