It's my nephew's 18th birthday soon and I am planning to give him an off-road day as a present. He has a road bike but would be a novice off road.

I'd rather do a single day than 2 days, so probably not the BM off-road skills course.

I think I once heard a good report after someone did a Yamaha day???

He's based in West Yorkshire, although that doesn't rule out Wales.

Please does anyone have recommendations?

Cheers,

Paul G :beerjug:

I did the Yamaha off road experience. Very motoX biased (rather than green lane trundling). I thought it great :thumb2

Thanks guys this has been extremely helpful.

For Gimli (my nephew, don't ask...!) i2i is particularly handy.

Excellent!

Another vote for Yamaha Off Road Experience (ORE) Llanidloes
You get a hour(ish) at a motox style area to do some skills and practice , then forest trails ... sometimes split into skill level groups

depending on the time of year it can be pretty wet and boggy ...

they cater for all skill levels and a lot of people there are "novice"

We went there with a mate and his 16 year old son... the git was a feckin natural straight off ...

+1 for i2i.

Just bear in mind that they have a slightly more moto-x approach. They do all the slow speed and general skills stuff, but it's done with a view to bringing it all together on their track.

That being said, if you're a dirt novice and just want to get an idea of what it's like, or just want to learn some extra skills, then they are very good. They're a very professional outfit and worth sending him to.
