We are booked to go to SW Normandy in September for a few days..... has anyone had experience of trail riding in the area?
Cant make my mind up as to take the car with bicycles (and maybe the golf clubs) or the van with the KTM in the back......:)
Any experience of the area.... good or bad.
Will post this in 'off road' section too.
Thanks in advance.

off road Normandy

Hi
According to two friend in the TRF, Normandy is supposed to be great for green-laning but they went on a Chris Evans tour (he of TBM fame). In my experience it's very difficult to identify lanes on the maps. Also, contrary to some information I've been given motorcycles are not permitted on GR routes (Grande Randonee, long distance paths).

If you discover some lanes I'd be keen to hear how you get on.

Regards
David

Grande Randonee paths? That is probably right, Grande Randonee meaning, quite literally, long or large or fine walk (in the sense of wander along or stroll).

The French do not have the same 'green lane' idea that we do, nor do many of the maps show the lanes. Why should they if the same 'green lane' idea does not exist?

Many of the 'open' areas (at least in the south of France) have signs indicating that vehicles are 'interdit' - literally banned. Indeed, when it is very hot any human access is banned for fear of fires.
