Off road rallies, BBC etc

The Big Bike Challenge (BBC) is back on for 2012 and I am (stupidly) thinking of doing some on the 1150. I have even bought a tent in the probably misplaced belief I might actually camp the night before.

Anyone fancy joining me? Get your own tent, mind. You can enter the rounds on puddle jumpers too.

First one is 22 April - BBRC RallyMoto Sprint at Sweet Lamb. I believe its about £60 but apparently its a sweet place to let rip on a bike bike (dunno myself, never been there).

Full details at http://bigbikerallychallenge.co.uk/ where you can pre-register as entries get full quickly. Or so they say in the true spirit of sugar shortage style marketing.

As some of you know I am thinking of doing a few of the other classic off road events this year, some that are suitable on the GS and a few of the tougher ones on the Husky. I'll set up and share a Google spreadsheet for those interested so we can plan entries, ride round together, share transport etc. Drop me a PM if there are any events you are keen on yourself and lets swap notes at the next meet.

Just looked on the site and they say you have to be on over 575cc bike, so you might want to check

Big bike rally champtionship (BBRC) is for 575cc or above
The smaller bikes (<575) are in the UKRC.

I am planning on doing (on my 525XC) :

Ryedale, Hafren, Beacons, Kielder

Possibly do the Cambrian too but I think it clashes with the TRF exmoor forest do.

Mike F and Mike R - have you booked any yet? I was looking at Ryedale on Youtube and it looked fun. Slightly tempted......

Not sure on ability level, dates, etc but thinking about it.

Have booked the Kielder K2., Ryedale will be open in a month or so. The WTRA ones normally open 2 months before.

Regs are out early for the Big Bikes, you ladies on your 525s and the like will need to wait a week or two still.

I have also gone mad on £24 of accommodation at a pub...

I have my name down for this one as well, not sure about sleeping arrangements yet, there is a wobble box option but only if the weather is set fair. I was at the November training session and whilst I dont know what part of Sweet Lamb will be used I am sure you will be fine on your GS, they train rally car drivers there so most of the fire trails are full width and big bike friendly.(IMHO)

Have changed hotel booking too.

Rooms are tighter this week end but they have a couple of singles left...

I have hooked up with a guy from the Rally forum and we are riding over together.
