Off to Norway on 22nd, starting to get anxious !

This was looking really good .. great pictures .. is there more to come ?
Its a long way so maybe the teleprinter is on a go slow? :nenau

I was about to recommend something to do in Flam then I noticed the date on the thread

Oh well, if anyone goes in the future this is well worth doing

I would like to know what tyres ... 4500miles ,,,
I don`t know about Bob, but when I went in `22 I had Roadtec 01SE fitted which were binned upon return, c 3.5k miles two-up.

I will get around to doing a full report, but life has a habit of getting in the way 🙃

I used Tourance Next 2, my mate had Avon Trailriders. Both of us changed them at about 7k miles. Speeds are generally slower in Norway, in part due to lower speed limits but mostly due to the narrow (ish) roads and scenery. I even averaged 56MPG over the trip, and that was with a fully loaded bike.

I like the Tourance Next 2 tyres, we did about 100 miles of gravel roads and they were good on that as well.

We're off to the the French Alps / Northern Italy / Switzerland in a few weeks. We're going for 26 days and are expecting to do about 4500 miles again - new Tourance Next 2's ready to be fitted.

I'm heading out on a similar trip at a similar time this year as it happens. Some interesting tips in this thread.

Noting that skipping Nordkapp for Lofoten is a common theme. A few people have told me that now. And Senja is close and a must visit too.

Fingers crossed for good weather.

I fitted a pair of Michelin Anakee adventure tyres. Just short of 5000 miles door to door. They still have enough tread for my next trip, Ireland via Scotland. Probably need new before the Alps in August though. Road only tyre would have seriously curtailed our trip as the main roads which are mostly in the valley bottom had been washed out, landslides, flooding etc. we did a good couple of hundred KMs on dirt, gravel tracks. The motorad tour was turning south because most of them had just road tyres. I would certainly recommend fitting tyres which can cope with at least gravel roads.
This washing out of roads whilst at the time slightly stressful was actually a good thing as we rode on tracks etc and saw things, places that we would have missed on the larger roads.
These washed out roads started from about Lillehammer North.

I liked my Anakee Adv but switched to Pirelli Scorpion STR Rally for something a bit more grippy on loose gravel and such. They've been amazing if a bit quick to wear. In fact not sure the rear will last the Scandi trip. Think I've already decided on my next tyre. Going to give the Dunlop Trail max Raid a shot.
