When taking the bike round to the back garden I was being a bit of a knob thinking I could avoid the pristine whites on the washing line to save myself an earbashing and in a pathetically slow series events the bike ended up on its side on the grass. The reason for this post is that there was a clear liquid coming from the handlebar area, i couldn't smell anything or find where it landed on the grass to examine it further. I am hoping it was just a bit of trapped water but if anyone knows what it could be and put my mind at rest I would be most grateful.

The only thing up there is your brake fluid reservoir. Is it intact and filled to the correct level?

Also it could be some stuff (water/oil) that has come out the air intake snorkel, although that is unlikely, or worst case scenario battery acid.
:o PB

i think I am going to have to take it apart and see whats what. time to get the torch out! cheers pondboy.

Everytime it rains, my handguards trap half a cupfull of water in themselves, and everytime, I straighten up the bars and tip it down my leg

If you were starting off, that may well have been where it came from, but if you'd been out and were returning, it won't be that 'cos it comes out when you sraighten the bars and sand the bike up.

Check the brake and clutch resevoirs and if they're ok, forget about it ;)

Right, took all the front panels off and couldn't find anything, it all looked dry, the battery level looks about right, can't see anything in the front brake reservoir could be empty or full but it is in one peice, it fell to the right very gently so I don't think I broke anything. cheers guys :thumb
