Yup did the same with mine. the box spanner just expanded the plastic. I got a screwdriver with a small enough shaft to fit into the slot and turned it off that way. no damage . Trouble is the screwdriver and other bits in the tool kit are too thick to fit the slot so no good if you want to open the tank on a garage forecourt or in the middle of sibereia.:rob

oil cap

Hi Ami
If you have not managed to remove the oil cap try this way

Get a pair of water pump pliers out of Dermots tool box and grip the edge of the oil cap be carefull not to catch the edge of the oil tank filler,it may be best to remove the tank panel before you try this so you dont damage the bodywork

cant remove fairing without removing the filler cap:blast

Just to make sure... you said you did try the sparkplug tool to open it did you?
( the original tool kit will fit in the recess and do the trick)

As above plumbers tools will do the job if the all else fails

Hammer and chisel. It'll only be just a bit too tight. A tap or two anticlockwise should loosen it sufficiently to be able to turn it with the correct tool and not cause too much damage - probably less than a pair of pliers would.
Unless you're a bit cack-handed of course. :augie

I now seem to have various people working on this problem.....ones with big tools!! Hopefully between them we will come up with a suggestion...and yours have all been very helpful! Knew you would help!
Ta guys!
