Oil dumb

i don't see any recomendation or approval from bmw themselves as far as i know a.c. schnitzer do not speak on their behalf.
just the opinion of an old sceptic btw

I would have a business selling bog standard oil at a premium price if I could :thumb2
"specially formulated to wallet emptying specifications just for gullible people who looked in the riders handbook and saw a range of different oils specified for different temperatures and became slightly confused":)

I love how the Motorex link for boxer oil comes up with a pic of a KTM... :blast Not very well thought out.

Anyway most of the BMW dealers here use the Motorex stuff - my 1150 has just had its 30,000 birthday present and the motorex oil was on the invoice. It's the only one they sell according to their mechanic. Probably a Swiss thing - support the local economy and all that now that the banking sector has a few issues... :augie

So, your engine works like a cuckoo clock instead of
a sewing machine.......

BTW, have you ever thought that the trans on the R bikes
is designed like..........fondue.......with the cat below it???

Shaken......not stirred :ChrisKelly

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand to resurrect this thread, I still
don't understand why someone would use 10w40
when 20w50 is good from -10 Celsius and up to any temp
according to BMW. :augie

Is it THAT cold in Switzerland?

not sure about topping up with 15w 50 again. seems rattly. going to drop it for 20w 50 soon but it's coming near winter so I might just keep an eye and ear on it and do some 10w40 for the winter.

Keep in mind that it is a rattly bike.

When adjusting the valves, you need to check the rocker arms
end play. Values are from 0.05 to 0.40 mm.
Bigger ones work ok but make a lot of noise, especially when hot.
I don't use 0.05 though. Prefer 0.10 to 0.15 at most.
Bike is ok noise-wise even with 6 bars on the rid.

-18 last winter on my back porch. And yes, I do ride all winter. Being up in the Jura has its disadvantages but on the plus side the views are great.

You use heated clothing,right?
I ride most of the winter too but when it's -18 (if ever).....nooooooooo
Down close to 0 is enough to me. I only lose 30 days riding
at most anyway.

Yes, I've heard you got some great views there!!!!

Photos, photos, photos, photos, photos.............:thumb
