Was going to take the bike for a spin, I found a thick white sludge round neck of filler cap , I changed the oil and filter a couple of weeks ago , I can't find any evidence of head gasket blowing and am at a loss to see how water is getting in :confused:I've changed the rad so it's different to the bmw one, took it for it's 1st spin last week it rode great no overheating no probs, any ideas guys ???!.

Done a few short trips of late in the cold? Might just be condensation in the oil rather than a leak across a gasket. G for a long run and see if it clears

Cheers Ian I wondered that myself it's just the white gunk seemed on the thick side, and the fact it's just had an oil change seems odd as I never had this before.

could just be condensation building up in the tank,if it is more than this and the oil is going creamy i would suggest water pump seals.
just reread OP,oil in water not water in oil, either way it still suggests pump seals:comfort

Carl, pop the breather pipe off the generator cover, and check for any signs of emulsified oil.

I usually get a little bit of white crud around the neck of the oil tank this time of year, but if the water pump has gone, you may well see white crud in the breather tube as well.
Is your bike loosing water?

Under the water pump there is a "breather", basically a weep route that goes up between the seals in the water pump. Might be worth checking that this isn't full of mud, if it is clear and not weeping coolant, then your water pump seals should be ok.

How many miles has the bike done now?

Cheers guys I think it's condensation, I drained the rad there was no oil in that the head gasket seems fine I spotted the breather and checked that it seemed fine cheers for that nathan il take that breather pipe of the generator tommorow and check that out it's just over 2000 miles.
