Hi
GS1150 Adventure 2002; 23000 km, rear drive rubber boot between shaft and final drive rear wheel is weeping oil, just noticed it not a lot but area below the boot on teh final drive is covered with oil mist and gunge. Have I got a major problem to fix or just need to clean it all up and put some new plastic clamps on the boot?

My '04 GSA had the exact same thing a week ago, took it to Bristol Motorad, Diagnosed pinion oil seal leaking. Repaired a few days later, not too costly, they did say it was a frequent fault, but could last a while before replacing, I didnt take the chance.:thumb

could be the gearbox output shaft ( cut ziptie and you can look up the swingarm and see if it's travelling down) or both, is not uncommon.

Hello and welcome to the forum Drug Baron.

Steptoes right, if you do a search using the button above you'll find plenty of threads already posted with the same query. The answer should be here already for you.

I'm going to move your post over to the technical section .... you should get a fair response there.

Enjoy your stay with us :)

I have the same problem at the moment. I've been searching for some instructions on how to check the gearbox and bevel box oil levels but I can't find anything on the forum, much less the BWM manuals that came with the bike :blast

Can anyone help please?

bike on center stand, fluid up to the bottom of the threads in filler opening.

I've had the same problem (03 ADV) been fixed 3 times now in 2 years and now been leaking again for the last 8000mls. Being a tight arse i just keep an eye on it now and it doesn't seem to get any worse.
