Hi, any ideas, sensible ones only please. There is plenty of oil in the sight glass, checked it a few times between trips, but the oil light started to glow! I had just washed the bike therefore there was a fair amount of water around. I'm wondering if I should try changing the oil sensor if that is possible and I can find it. I need to get this done before I sail to the UK next week with the bike. I also need to find somewhere between Portsmouth and Minehead to get some tyres fitted/balanced.

Cheers.

Deffo the sensor,

I've had about 3 of them pack in on mine, replace that and it'll be fine, try Motorworks they'll post you a new one out in no time

What I have done just temporarily is take the switch out, squirt some wd40 down it and using a small drill bit inserted in it, just "click" it a few times, this seems like it cleans the crap out for a while and gets it working again but you will end up getting a new one anyway.

Cheers,

If the light worries you just unplug the connector.

The noise of the engine is a more reliable barometer of oil pressure :D

oil light

Pull the wire off the sensor first sse if it stays on, if it does you've go a short to earth possiblt where it goes under the cylinder. If this don't work proceed with the abve fore mentiond.

With the engine running, does the oil light go out when the neutral light is on?

Many thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions, greatly appreciated.
