oil temperature sensor?

I have a weird one... its been bugging me for a few weeks but havent gotten around to posting it.

My temp sender has started mucking about, it goes up normally to 3 bars, but then as soon as it does so, over a period of about 5 seconds, it drops down to blank.

Im not overly concerned as the oil levels correct etc. Its just annoying me.

Sensor breaking down as the temperature is getting to a certain trigger point?
Or RID messing about - please no

yeah... but i cant see that being the interference reason...

Ive had hids on it since i got it and this annoyance only started 2 weeks ago.

Dunno - I don't have HID's but I've read loads on here about the ballast (temporarily) fecking up the RID

well i extended the wiring on my ballast to move it away from the rid anyways, i thought the installation around the headlight area was untidy, so mine lives under the tank where the abs unit would be.
