A little more advice please!

I'm definately going to trade up to a big GS from the 650 Dakar early next year with the intention of doing a 3 month (2 up) trip around Europe/Med/North Africa. I'm going to have about £6 to £6.5k to spend and will need panniers, top box and any other useful goodies included.

I don't think that for that money I'm going to get a 1200 so.....

If I buy an 1150 adventure is it possible to fit the standard GS's 2 seats?

Was the 1150 adventure produced in the dark silver that the standard 1150GS was?

Am I wasting my money hankering after an adventure when the standard 1150GS would probably be more than adequate? I reckon 95% of the riding will be on paved roads.

Will the standard 1150GS, or the adventure for that matter, cope 2 up in North Africa?

Or am I bonkers even considering going to North Africa on a bike 2 up?:D

Thanks all.

Daniel

For what its worth, opinions rather than advice.

For 6-6.5K,you can afford a 1200.
Whether or not you ought to is another matter.
You should get a well kitted 1150GSA within your budget and you can, quite easily i believe, change to the GS's twin seats (same subframe).
If you do a search, you will find plenty of tales of folk who have taken their GS1150s to N Africa very successfully.
The gearing/tank range is more suitable for your planned use.
I would however question the wisdom of taking a fully loaded GS,2-up off metalled roads for an extended period.Consider more suitable tyres.
Not saying it cant be done, but they are big heavy buggers to pick up.
Good luck on whatever you choose,it should be a lot of fun.
