The only thing I miss from my old R1100R is the grips. These where thicker, softer and moulded to the palm (a series of rings - I'm sure many of you will know what I mean). The new grips are rubbish in comparison.

Is it possible to fit the old style heated grips to a 2005 R1200GS?

My current heated grips are almost worn out and at about 100 quid a pair to replace I'd rather put that cash towards nicer grips than the new style one which seem little better than posh bicycle tape.

I concur. The new ones are a pain in the hand for my rheumaticky owld fingers - bring back the 1150 grips!

Not sure about the grip puppies - they could even fit them properly for the bleeding advertising photos.

The old style grips are hard to beat IMO and I can't believe no-one else has wanted to fit them. Maybe it's too difficult?

i wanted the old grips initially, but dealer said it wasn't possible. soon got used to the 1200 grips, even with arthritis in my fingers.

those that have them highly recommend them :nenau
awaiting delivery of mine.

Grip Puppies are great. On both bikes. Heating still works well. 20 mins to fit with water soluble lube (!). Still fine after 2 years/16k.

The last two 1150s I've had have the new thinner grips and I too miss the feel of the old ribbed ones:augie...so have fitted Grip puppies which are great and last for ages:thumb

OK, I guess I stand corrected on the puppies - who doesn't like to grip a couple of puppies? - though I doubt that they beat grasping hold of two handfuls of solid Teutonic ribbed rubber. :augie

If I can get a second-hand pair of the old 1100/1150 grips I think I might see if they'll fit, but if this has been tried and deemed impractical then it would save me wasting time and money.
