Sorry to bring this one up again but my searches bring nothing up since late 2007 and the situation could be different since then.

Anyone know the definitive answer to GPS/Bluetooth use in Spain.

(yes I know that "definitive" and "law in Spain" are impossible:blast)

Cheers.

Martyn

I've used GPS in Spain for a number of trips - I had no problems. The Mapsource maps are not very comprehensive though.

As I understand it as long as you don't use a speed camera detection device then you are ok.
I used a satnav in 2007 without any problems.
Someone with far greater knowledge will be along soon......

No - you should be OK - just follow everyone else on a big bike ;-)

I don't use the audio on my GPS - I prefer the pictures.

You can use a GPS with BT intercom without problem, but you cannot touch the GPS riding the bike. The BT intercom must have speakers (Scala Rider, Midland,...). You can't use earplugs.

As monsieur said, you cannot have on your bike a Speed Camera detector (bel, Stinger, etc..). Even if you have this device shutdown the police will give a spicy "souvenir"

Done a few thousand miles in Spain over the last couple o' years, what's all the fuss about :rob

GPS... Bluetooth... silly speeds

Aint had a problem :thumb

Just back from a trip to Spain on Wednesday. I didn't have any problems using my GPS at all ! i was stopped at a check point in the picos ,the police stopped me,had a good look over the bike, took a look at my reg and let me on my way,the guy even saluted me which was nice! I had wires hanging from my helmet with music on full volume. I passed a lot of police and they didn't bat an eyelid so,you should be OK! enjoy,Spain is a fantastic place to visit!!!!

No probs....

Got back yesterday having used the Garmin and Scala together all the way there and back having decided that the concensus was that the Police in either country don't GAF unless there's something else that takes their interest - like your pillion:manny

I even had a Gendarme choose from the Garmin Menu when I was trying to find a place with multiple selection choices! The Spanish Police were too busy looking for drugs and guns to be arsed with bikers.... Even if most of the locals seemed to be intent on doing 200kph with a babe in a bikini on the back.

I guess its like over here, if they are going to nick you for something major, they'll crawl all over you to find something else to give you pain.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread anyway.:beerjug:
