I've just found out that Ed Drisscol the owner and chef at the Old Smithy in Monyash has passed away.

Can't quite believe it - all the regulars will know the food was exceptional.

He'll be missed but I believe the family are planning to continue running the cafe

Sherpa ;)

is that the cafe on the corner next to the pub,?
if so stop there a few times when out laning in the peaks...
how old was Ed because i never saw anyone that old in there !!

Monyash Cafe

Ed wasn`t very old at all he was only in his 50`s. he had a heart attack whilst serving in the cafe. It will continue with his sons and the same staff.

Ed's remains open....

I only live a mile or so away from Ed's…his lads are doing a sterling job by carrying on with the café. He was a very sound and much liked guy…he is missed locally for many reasons.
Just got myself a GS… so who visits my area then and who lives close by.

Hi

Myself and Swooper will be caling at The Old Smithy with a posse of GSers from Grimsby area next Sunday 10th.

Have a look at the site below for details - just click the "BMW GS Dealer Rideouts" tab

We're locals, and regulars, though!

Sherpa ;)

ETA at Monyash

Hi John, thanks for this…what’s your approximate ETA at Monyash and I’ll pop down? I already have your contact details from Rainbow and am planning to join your trips in the future so would be good to meet a few GSers.
