The very helpful people at Motorworks have suggested that there is a way to change the lock code on my genuine BMW luggage so that I can use my 1150GS ignition key for everything. Is this possible or am I going to have to ask a dealer? I have the key numbers for the ignition lock and for the panniers locks.

You will find that the large bmw dealerships have the facility to do it while you wait, if they cant they will know a dealer that can do it. The job takes two minutes. I do know cooper reading can do it for you if you live in the south and ALLAN JEFFERIES LTD in the north

Good luck

Yep,
It's no problem - I'm still on my old panniers fro 5 yrs ago, so when I change the bike , I just ask for the lock barrels to be coded and changed to match the ignition-costs about £10 per pannier and usually get it thrown in with deal. The old lock barrels are then kept with p/ex for the new purchaser ,so he can do same . Hey Presto , everyone wins !!!!

Key Coding in Ireland.

John,
I had an R1150 rt before my GS and neede key codind done. The dealer here in Dublin "Maxwells" quoted me 38.15 euro for one pannier !!! Make sure you dont come to Dublin to get service work done.

If they're new cases......

.....I think the original barrels can be re-coded (I know this is correct for the 650GS panniers) in seconds. I'll have a quick look at the info I've got & get back to you.

When I 1st picked mine up new they still hadn't done this ..... but as I say it took no time for it to be done at all.
