How uncomfortable are they!!!

Was in a bike shop yesterday. Had my eye on this Dainese suit for a while. Thought I give it a try and see how I look :ymca

WHY DO PEOPLE DO IT??

It took me all of 15 minutes to get in the fecking thing. Once in, I couldn't stand up straight and it was just really uncomfortable. This was a suit that was probably one size too big for me :eek

The sales assistant wanted give me a smaller size to try ... I declined :D

I will stick with my aerostich :D

On the way home .. saw a chap on a sportsbike wearing the same suit. Glad it wasn't me :aidan

The design and cut of a well made one piece suit is not meant to be comfortable standing around talking about your trip to the ace .

they are designed to be comfortable on the bike riding and are the best protection you can get .

Not quite ready for expert now are we :augie

1 piece suits are ideal if you've been gang raped by a troop of baboons (so I'm told) or ride one of the bikes that need you to have a hump on your back to be able to do over 150 mph, whilst being filmed by the plod.

Or you ride on track days any the organisers say they're the only acceptable clothing.

Otherwise, on a GS :blast

I can only speak for my one piece leathers which are Kushitani.

Benefits.
No loose flapping material that affect handling.
Best body protection available.
No need for body bags, cleanup much easier.

Failings.
Heavy.
Hot when static, although mine are ventilated.
Problems in public restrooms, keeping arms off the floor whilst attempting a decent sh!t
Abnormally stiff when new, they get pliable with age & wear. Just like new slippers.
Ridiculed as "power rangers" by many...Although I hide mine under a Belstaff Trailsmaster....;)

Conclusion. It is important to have one that fits perfectly, any compromise & you will regret it. I wear mine all the time whilst riding, except for very short jaunts. I can pop mine on & off in about 1 minute. I feel naked & vunerable without it....:thedummy

WHY DO PEOPLE DO IT??

watch some Moto GP Tom and see how they manage to walk away from some huge crashes (obvioulsy it helps if you are hard as nails and a mentalist as well :eek )

I wrote off an R6 wearing a one piece. I was doing 70 at the time and, apart from a few aches and pains for a week or so, I was fine. I can't see me saying the same if I had been in a 'stich :p

I'd wear one if I could find one that didn't make me look like an over stuffed sausage

It looks cool though :D

It looks cool though :D

It only looks cool if:
1. You have the body of an athlete (that rules out 90% of GSers there  )
2. You have the right bike (and that's the other 10% gone then)
3. You can actually ride (thats 90% of bikers out then, including me :p )
4. You are on a track :augie

For road riding a two piece (matching or not) is far more appropriate ;)

You'd just look :rob or :ymca , take your pick :blast

Why is there a big fagina on the arsepeice?

Is that for quick access?

Quality! :clap:clap:clap

(I think Tom fancied the "gang raping troop of baboons" and had that fitted to the suit.......... :augie)

Al :aidan

So are you saying I won't look cool init then?

There were some lovely bikes at the shop .. RC8s, Hypermotards, 990 SM/Adventures .. and loads of sports bikes.

I was looking at the new fireblade. It's smaller than the CRB 600 RR!!

I have a Carrera Stealth suit for trackdays.....:)

from what I have seen a lot of GS riders are thinner than Ducati riders(me included) and plenty of them wear 1 piece leathers!

Dianese leathers are not that comfortable (certainly not when new as they use v stiff leather with loads of colour/dye) and as had been said they are designed to be short from crutch to chest as they made for bikes with low bars and rear set pegs. I sold my last set of Berik leathers as they were just the wrong shape for the GS, - shame as they were fully vented at the front so great to wear when it is hot (I say WHEN it is hot, not this year then...).

Still wear my Furygan leather trousers as they are more comfortable than anything else inc jeans or textile trousers, - but they are about 9 years old, great quality leather and soooo soft.

The majourity of GS'ers will require the front section to be stretched over a Wok.

But not you or I Tom :D
