I just got back from a weekend in the French Alsace where I bagged just about all the decent passes :)

I will be posting them all on BestBikingRoads.com over the next few weeks, the Alsace is a really good place to ride, if you haven't been and like mountain roads, get down there.

Sadly, I couldn't take my GS as the final drive is still awaiting parts from my Estonia trip, so I rented a 600 Fazer for the weekend from a place in Amsterdam.

I saw two reasonably quick German riders on Stuggart plates on 1150s and I wanted to see if I could make the Fazer stay in front coming down one of the Cols. I had to give the Fazer some stick, but I managed to pass and stay ahead of them, over about 8kms, which, knowing what the GS is capable of on such roads, I thought it was quite an achievement :)

Hope the GS will be back on the road soon.

I was down there just a few weeks ago. Great roads! Found out the hard way that most of the French gas stations close between 1200 and 1400. Also, on a couple of hairpin turns the nicely paved road turned to cobble stones - WTF  !!! The Garmin gods decided to route me on a rarely used mountain road but since no one knew where I was I decided not to pursue it.

Yeah, came back from there 4 weeks ago (had two Dutch 1200GSs staying in the same hotel, they were the tour guides of a large Dutch motorbike group).

It's absolutely beautiful over there, almost.. as good as Normandy.... :)

It's a place you can stay for a week without being bored.
