As people have said, local backups are better...
I'm happy to use online for my pictures, I have no rush to get them back if my hard drive were to fail + I'm a lazy git and don't do local backups enough.
Local USB drive (at least two) is the cheapest/fastest option but you have to do them !
At work its a different story, backup to LTO tapes running 28 tape rotation and monthly archive....but thats expensive.
