Lovely day up here, dry, about 4C with sunshine.
So I decided to go down the A9 to Dunbeath and turn off onto the Braemore track. It's a 5 miles dead end into the middle of nowhere but I though I'd get some good photies of Morven - the biggish hill that's there.
Soon as I got off the coast road onto the Braemore track the temperature dropped to freezing and the road conditions began to get worse.

I had some good fun skating about in the frozen snow, but it was becoming decidedly dodgy as the snow was lying on top of solid ice. You think you're Ok until you hit a small change in surface and the bike starts to go where it wants. Wahey!

About 3 miles up the track I remembered that it's actually quite a long descent to get to the end of the road, I knew I could get to the end...but getting back up the hill could be a different matter. So i chickened out....
...which was a good decision on my part, even getting back up the fairly gentle slope I was on resulted in fishtailing everywhere. After about ten minutes of spinning rear wheel and deperately trying to stay upright I got back onto easier stuff.
So I fecked off back to Helmsdale for some scoff

And I forgot..if you order the fish and chips 'special'...bring an entrenching tool - a knife and fork isn't going to hack a portion this size...2 full size fish FFS
