Spur of the moment solo visit to Netherlands tomorrow - staying in Arnhem and looking to visit some historical aspects of WW2.

I've got a good guide book and downloaded Battle of the Bulge to watch on first evening for inspiration - anyone been to area and recommend what to see (2/3 day visit)

The church in Arnhem & climb the tower to get an aerial view of the river

Few years since I went so a nit sketchy, but all of the above from Cooperman

Hartenstein museum in Oosterbeck, its based in what was a hotel then used by the allies as a command post, :thumb2, and also the CWGC in Oosterbeck

Bridge too far - that's what I downloaded to watch not Battle of the Bulge!

Thanks for the advice so far :)

And there a nice restaurant next to the Airborne Museum!!(which is the old Hartenstein Hotel in Oosterbeek , to avoid any confusion...) Good lunch before heading to the ferry!

Thanks for the tips - yesterday I spent on the tourist trail in Amsterdam and today visiting the airborne museum and others.

Walked along the John Frost bridge last night.

Verzetsmuseum

Did you go to the Verzetsmuseum in Amsterdam? Very good.

All the suggestions above are excellent, also recommend the Oorlogs Museum on Overloon, about 40 miles south of Arnhem plus, of course, the CWGC at Oosterbeek.

Visited the Oosterbeek airborne cemetery this afternoon just after the airborne museum down the road - the museum is excellent and well worth the visit
