Hi i am looking for some pannier inner bags for my Vario boxes. But the BMW ones are too expensive in my opinion at £200 . So i have found some on the internet from a company called Mane Event. Has anybody had any experience with these or any other after market ones?

I have some Bestem ones that I bought on e-Bay that certainly weren't £200.

They do expand to cover when you expand the Vario cases, but are both the same size so the non exhaust side version fits better.

Other than that they do the job and seem well made.

Zips on my BMW inner bags failed after a couple of years - bit disapointed about that, but otherwise very useful. Replaced them with a couple of £5 Tescos bags that fitted perfectly :D

Mane Event bags are well made, and about as good as you need :thumb2

(unless you are a builders' merchant - carrying loads of house-bricks)

Al :)

I've got them. They do the job well if you just want a liner rather than off the bike "luggage". They also do the vario thing with an expansion zip.

I have used my Bestem Vario liner bags for last three years. The bags have been used on many tours and one, [top box one] used daily as brief/laptop bag. No faults, no obvious signs of wear.

Practical when travelling and especially when emptying bike everynight, better than my previous solution, Sainsbury bags for life. Looked like an old bag lady [buts that another story]

About £100 [if memory right]

They unzip to expand by about 30% and fill the expanded vario panniers.

I would recommend them.

A tip I picked up from the forum was to use Cool bags from Argos £9 for one large and one small that neatly fit in a pannier.
So £18 total.

I use the small one for items of immediate use.

BMW are taking the P!$h for the cost of their ones.
At the end of the day it is just a simple bag you need.

I use bags made by Kathy's Journey Designs which I bought from Chainspeed. They are purpose made, expandable and work well for me on a regular basis.
Worth a look.

Another recommendation for Mane Event. Have used the side pannier ones all season and found that the exhaust side bag and the terracotta bag from traveldri are interchangeable -to good effect too. Happy shopping.

bags

cool bags again, mine are about 35ltrs each do the job are water tight to an extent, got water in the pannier but everthing in the bag was dry! cost £12 each only down side is the colours are awful but how cares plus get to were your camping and if you get a rake of ale bang it in the bag to keep cool!:thumb2

The true practical side of these bags is now out in the open.
I also use them for "picnic" materials when out on a long run.

As in bread / ham / cheese etc..
