Hi All

I have an Optimate I which is still perfectly serviceable. It would be cool to be able to use the weatherproofed on-bike connection leads supplied with the Optimate IV (which are available separately).

Does anyone know if there is an adaptor lead that would allow the Optimate I cable to connect to the newer weatherproofed lead?

Cheers

Paul

I looked at this a while back as I have a 'I' but I think it is not possible. Maplins don't sell these connectors so could not help me.
What's wrong with the standard 'I' battery connection leads? I used these on my old Fazer for many years and not had a problem. Now got the GS I just cut the end off the lead and put a BM plug on to plug into the aux socket.

Am I missing something ? From the Optimate website:

Weatherproof connection lead for use with AccuMate, AccuMate Pro, and OptiMate.

Part No. TM71

£4.00 + VAT (£4.60 inc VAT)

This is the latest version of the fused permanent connection lead - our most popular accessory. This fused eyelet lead is the same as the one currently supplied with every AccuMate & OptiMate. It has a rubber cover for the 2-pin connector as well as for the fuseholder.

In other words, it is the same connector for all Optimates ( I,II,II and IV); the weatherproof connector is the same connector, in a weather proof cover.

It definitely doesn't fit the 'I' ...

Optimate say

if you really want to use the later leads with your OptiMate you will need to change your output connector. This cannot be done the other way around as the terminals on the earlier charger leads are too small to accept the cable of the later chargers.

The Molex style connectors can be purchased from any good electronics store such as Maplin.

So that's what I'll look into :thumb2

They didn't mention the falling leaves thing though
