Optimate on an R1200GSA

Just chatting to my dealer re charging my new GSA using an Optimate, he metioned that (he wasn't sure why) but they don't seem to fully charge the battery. He went on to recommend the BMW equivalent for the job.

Does this have any basis in fact?

Think the bmw unit sends a signal down the line to keep the socket open for charging, so using an optimate to the BMW socket means the canbus switches the socket off after a period.

Connect the optimate directly to the battery and it will work fine.
