It may just be me but incase it's not....... When putting the optimate on your bike be sure to have your kill switch off, as in you can start the engine, otherwise it shows up as a battery/wiring fault(red LED) on the charger. Had me worried till i worked out what it was. The odessey battery is only 3 months old.

optimate charger

as far as i Know , the optimate will not charge the odyssey battery fully, you will need a CTEK of similar , I have both and do not trust the optimate despite all the hype

I've done that a few times. Like everything else these days, just switch the thing on and off again and its job done. I assume it throws up an error as the voltage climbs to 14.5V.

I've never felt the need to keep the battery on charge - my OEM lasted 5 years which I replaced with the Odyssey in the autumn.Sometimes I don't use the bike for 6-8 weeks but it's never failed to start when required.

Like to pop it on now and again especially when i light up blackpool illuminations if i'm on dark lanes.
