I have had my optimate for a good couple of years, but it now seems to have packed up.
The power light comes on when switched on but does not change to orange to show 'charging'.
It all looks OK inside, not witness of anything getting hot or burnt, any ideas or is it throw away
are there any internal fuses ?
many thanks

Check the connectors in the wiring to the bike, mine has done this on a number of occassions and it is normally the crap plastic plugs and the wires into the crimped joints. You will still get the red power light but it just isn't making a good connection! Wiggle the wires around and it will flicker probably. Or, dare I say it battery?

As above, if you've got pre-installed wiring on the bike, it'll be corrosion on the connection

Optimate

3 pence worth of resistor burnt out on one of mine, de-soldered it, bought a pack of 4 from Maplin then soldered it back, still works after 2 years of constant use.

It didn't look burnt or anything on the circuitboard, a test with a multimeter showed it up as open circuit.
