Does it do any harm to keep them permernantly on the bike? I mean for long periods of time?

Don't know if was down to the Kawasaki or what, but I had to occassionally top up the battery.
It`s supposed to be kept on,that`s the whole point of it.
I think the 3 has an extra 'checkpoint' on it...and the plug is different on the lead.
If a bike is kept on the Optimate for a long time without use,you may have to top up a lead acid battery`s electrlolyte.
