Being a proud owner of the above battery charger...
am i correct in thinking if i purchase "AMDC plug" same as the bmw accessory plug,

That to keep me battery charged all i do is plug it in the accessory
socket - and that'l work ?

I find it a bit confussing, that the bikes socket is "out-going" and the charger is "in-comming"....

Thats wot I do

But always plug it in when the other end (mains) is unplugged otherwise you can blow the accessories fuse

Wall-mount the optimate higher than your bike's battery, that way gravity will overcome the 'out-going' nature of the bike's socket!

....more seriously, do you remember being in the science lab when you were at school?

On the bench was a gas tap (outgoing) for bunsen burners, etc. There was also a water tap (also outgoing) for squirting with.

If you got a length of rubber tube and connected the water tap to the gas tap, the water always won as its pressure was higher.

In the same way, your Optimate works at a higher electrical pressure (voltage) than the socket on the bike and is able to force electricity back into your battery. The clever bit is that the Optimate senses the back pressure so accurately that, when the battery is full, it can balance the battery voltage against the Optimate battery so that virtually no electricity either goes in or out!

In science lessons we chased girls round who had just developed 'breasts'. You can guess what the punishment was when we caught them. I suppose it was semi scientific but the wrong lesson-biology lessons didn't start for years after.

Have an Optimate II and can't get hold of the BMW plug due to its discontinuance(M+P). Any idea's where i might still get one?
