It’s a great place to visit now, I believe the ruin bars developed from buildings wrecked during the war, they’re pretty cool places for a beer
I have read two books on Budapest, sparked by interest from a business trip:
I found this one (which is supposedly the definitive story of the siege) hard going, possibly because it was a translation from Hungarian. I couldn’t gel with it. I need to have another go at it as some point, probably with a basic city map to hand.
