Was out fur a run yesterday & noticed that the glass in one of my mirrors has obviously come 'unstuck' within the plastic housing and now rattles slightly on bumpy roads. If I tap the plastic housing the glass just rattles slightly & slowly rotates too.

Can this be easily fixed and remain looking original?

I did think of silicon or something between the the glass & plastic but don't fancy the bodged look of that.....

I doubt it , superglue might be worth a try , a little sucker on the glass , push it in , superglue at the edges then pull the glass back up .Clean of xs superglue with the superglue solvent it is often sold with

drill a hole underneath at the back fill it with expandable foam then use black siliucone to fill the hole once the foam has set

Good suggestions - The builders left a full tin of expandable foam after some recent work so think I will give that a try......

Had a closer look tonight when I took the right hand mirror off the bike and there is quite a bit of movement of the glass within the housing, almost enough to pry the mirror out but not quite so not sure what has gone wrong here.

Either way thanks for the suggestions to help fix.......

I'm pretty sure that BMW changed quite a lot of these mirrors under warranty even if they weren't rattling

Give the dealer a quick call and ask

This has been an issue for years - even back in the 80's one of my GS mirrors would rattle more than the other one!

I didnt have any filler foam so used threadlock. Trickled it between glass and bezel. No more rattles :)

The excess wipes off

PS I left it face down overnight to make sure it stuck straight.

Dont think mega money about £28 last one I got, was a couple of years ago though Noticed a couple of bike breakers selling old ones for best part of £40!!!. No need to buy left or right. It list them as handed but have had a couple of spare ones and just rotate the head to whichever side you fit it :D
