Hello folks
I've just put a small deposit on a 04 F650GS without seeing it "in the flesh". The owner assured me that the tyres were the originals, but I was wondering if anyone on this fine forum knows if there are any date codes on the tyres fitted to the F650 from new. I know some manufacturers do, but not sure about Continental. Any other advice on checking it over gratefully received.

why has it got the original tyres on after five years? first thing i would do is budget for new ones, also see the service history if it dont look right walk away IMO

Hello Ian W, I have a 2004 F650 GS which I purchased last November which has less than 3,000 genuine miles, so still the original tyres. Let me know what you want me to look for on the tyres and I will e-mail you back. They are definitely not Continentals. Best wishes, Rob A.

Thanks for the reply. Could you tell me what tyres are fitted to yours, I thought continentals were fitted from new, but I could be wrong.

Three tyres "approved" by BMW for fitment to F650GS:-

Metzeler Tourance
Michelin Anache
Bridgestone Battlewings.

If there are Contis fitted, they are probably TKC80 Twinduro, usually fitted to bikes from the Off-Road School, but not Original Equipment on the bikes.
