Our first holiday abroad....New York city..... December 2013

some more info IMHO most been said before

It's not my fav city but if you fancy a sundowner on a nice evening head to 230 Fifth.
That's the address-230 Fifth Avenue.Stunning views and a nice place for some evening sun.

What a lot of people who've never been to NY don't realise is that it's so built up with skyscrapers that down on street level you tend to be in the shadows the whole time so it's great to get up and above and into the fresh air and sunshine, especially whilst downing a beer looking over the Empire State and beyond.

Its one of my fave cities and would go a lot more if I could afford. Usually go just before christmas for the lights displays etc

I agree bout the skyscrapers and the mouse feeling. to get a good perspective of the city and parks - statue of liberty etc. Liberty Helicopter tours takes you on a superb tour http://www.libertyhelicopter.com/

We usually stay Midtown on 34th close to the empire state building worth two trips up day and night light views from Hollywood's most famous building although many prefer the glass view from trump.

The horse and cart rides :aidan from the edge of central park will tour - point out some famous landmarks

walking up 5th is eye popping ££££££££££££ sorry $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Great place, food, shopping, sights, people, good service all. Our map was the pocket guide book map.. breakfast where the locals go and boys in blue, very safe but if it feels wrong walk away. Ronnie69 and DavyF Enjoy lucky buggers :beerjug: enjoy the corfee

Thanks.

Anyone got any view on city passes from using them themselves (ie my Q1 above)? To save u scrolling up:

Q1 any recommendations for attraction passes? There are loads and they all seem to operate slightly differently. I've read reviews of all the options and I'm not sure I'm any the wiser. We will visit lots of stuff and we usually spend a long time everywhere we go (reading almost everything and the wife loves an audio guide!), but we realise we might need to be a bit less detailed on this trip (to avoid getting worn out if nothing else). I get the particular sim card/provider that can be bought easily and not cost the earth to buy or use?
