Good morning chaps, unfortunately my GS1200 won't fit around my side passage. I've a thin Oxford cover on it at the moment but it's on its way out.
I'm looking for some advice on a replacement cover. I leave the top box on and it has the adventure screen on it. Its a TU.

I used an 'R & G' outdoor cover which is labelled 'Adventure' for my 2010 GSA and it fitted perfectly. However I removed panniers and top box. I think it'll fit over a top box ok but it might not cover the whole of the back wheel. They're on eBay at about 50 pounds. Alan

I've had two of these, one for my GTR1400 with topbox fitted really well, and I'm impressed with the quality...

I have a bike home cover bh01. Keeps the rain and sun out. I have it bolted from both sides for added security. The bike can be left on central stand but without topbox. I have a givi airflow, have to remove the top part as well. Side stand no problem. Although it costs more I have it for few years now and by this time I would go thru 3-4 reg covers. I live 50m from beach with high winds.

Something to consider

I use the reletively cheep blue with silver heat resistance bottom half. Like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Waterpro...978867?hash=item21533627f3:g:5gwAAOSw9E5dd6jn . These covers are not actually waterproof (stay with me a mo) even though they say they are. I've had several of them over the years. and the big one fits over the 1200GS easily, with ADV screen and all three boxes.

However! When your bike is parked in the rain (and especially on warmer days) the water on the ground evaporates upwards and inside the bike cover. This can cause considerable corosion, which was experianced on a firends CBR400RR. Along with some engine corrosion all the chrome fittings rusted. The bike was used at least weely.

Breathable covers can trap a consiberable amount of moisture too, as it takes longer for the water to pass through the fabric.

In my experiance of these none waterproof covers was that although the bike still gets wet (by rain water passing thorugh the fabric) but the bike was protected from the grits in the falling rain by the fabric acting as a filter. Then when the weather cleared up the fabric alowed the moisture to pass back through the cover quickly enough to prevent any corosion.

Another plus point is that they are thin and easy to stash it the corner of the pannier meaning you always have your cover with you. Cheep enough that no one is going to try to nick it.

Val.
