Just popped into my local bike shop to have a look for a new jacket and they have the new Oxford Montreal 5.0 kit in stock.

Looks and feels a quality product and at £200 it looks great value for money. I don't know much about Oxford products but I've always thought that because they are on the cheaper end of the market their kit wasn't up to much but I have to say this looks decent.

They also have Alpinestars Drystar V4 in there which is a bit more expensive but looks similar quality.

Another punter in the shop has the older Montreal and reckns it's really good so does anyone have and more real world experience of the Oxford Montreal kit?

I had one. It's that price for a reason. I sold mine less than a year after purchase.

Mondial is better.

The alpine drystars are fantastic

If you’re lucky you maybe able to pick up a Mondial laminate for the same money, I’ve had two, superb jackets.
Oxford have come a very long way in the last few years, I doubt the Montreal 5.0 would be bad.

Got an Oxford Barkston last year for general knocking about. Quality / weight feels good at the price.

Laminate at the price is a bonus.

Sales guy reckoned for the price the Oxford is as good if not better than the lower range Alpinestars kit.

You do pay for the Astars name.

I know two people who bought the previous model , one loved his and had zero issues the second one said the jacket leaked ftom day one ,

Thanks guys.

After a weekend looking, I've found a Scott Voyager Drygo jacket in a local store for less that half price.

Looks a brilliant bit of kit with great reviews and reduced as they have stopped making bike kit.

I bought one too. I didn’t realise they had stopped making bike kit. They have a good reputation. I usually buy second hand off here. JJH
