Pack size and weight.

I use a 25ltr day pack for single day romps or a 60+ltr for multi-day camp & hike. How much weight is really up to you, but age, strength, duration, terrain, season, even how you pack your bag comes into play. So many variables.

Best advice is get a bag that fits your frame, boots that are lightweight and the obligatory Kendal mint cake.

Enjoy your exploring.

Also use the naismith rule and then add time if your carrying a big pack.
I always presume the worst case scenario, if i end up at the days destination earlier brilliant, i get time to explore a village or a sneaky few in the local pub :)

When i first started i aimed for a 6pm finish to maximise distance per day and soon ended up pitching my tent in the middle of nowhere in the dark!
i went for a pee in the night and in the morning found out if i had strode another half dozen steps in the dark, i would have walked off a cliff! (true story)

3 things learned that day...
Start earlier, target less distance and buy a feckin torch! 🤣
