Paint engine all black

I am considering painting the engine on my R80ST all black.
However, I don't seem to see many others do it and wondered if there was a technical issue why not or whether it is just that most people want to keep the original look.
Does anyone have any advice on this?

They Probably don't do it because it's a bugger to do well.

You'll need an ally primer but to get that to stick you need to get all the grease out of the cases.

Also the finish on Airhead and early k unpainted engine blocks was/is one if the better BM has produced... The later ones are painted for a reason... Even in it's clean but dull state it looks far better than the corroded paint of many a later bike...

From the number of bikes you see with the factory applied engine paint peeling off you would have to think most factories didnt find it any easier to get right than the average back yard bodger.
